Manual vs. Computerized Chiropractic What’s the Difference?
The term chiropractic comes from the Greek root chiro—“hand”—because traditional spinal adjustments involve direct pressure from the chiropractor’s hands onto the affected areas. There are many chiropractic techniques for performing this kind of traditional chiropractic adjustment.
In recent years, computerized instruments have been developed to provide a new method of spinal adjustment. The theory remains the same—the application of pressure to the affected joint in order to restore mobility and correct subluxations. Computerized instruments like the ProAdjuster which we use at Korwitts Chiropractic, offer advanced evaluations of individual joints before and after each treatment. In addition, the adjusting tool can be more precise in the amount of force it uses, adjusting to the stiffness of each individual vertebrae. You can learn more about computerized treatments on our ProAdjuster Difference page.
What is right for you?
So which technique is right for you? This is a good question. There are particular benefits to each technique, and different patients have different preferences.
When recommending a course of care, our doctors will take into account your initial patient assessment (including your health history, examination, and x-ray evaluation). Then your doctor will recommend the technique he or she believes will best suit your particular needs. Every time you visit us, we’ll evaluate your progress. Throughout the course of your care, your doctor may change to a different technique or blend techniques to maximize your results.
