Our Nurse Practitioner, Amy Polivka, sees medicine as an “always-changing” puzzle. In that regard, she says she has never met a challenge she didn’t want to conquer. Helping people feel better and improving their quality of life fuels her to grow every day as a provider. Isn’t that the kind of professional you would love to have helping you with your health?
Amy views the human body as complex, with an amazing capability to repair itself. If the body is provided and fueled with necessary proper components, Amy believes many of our ailments can be eliminated. To her, Amy sees natural health care as a means to helping find the source of problems with the tools available to safely bring on solutions.
Receiving her first Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Management with a Computer Science minor, Amy then went on to spend 15 years as a commodity broker at the Chicago Board of Trade. As time went on, she realized she wanted to deal more with people than corporations, so she went back to school and got her nursing degree from Rush University and then spent the next 13 years at the bedside as a Labor & Delivery Nurse. During Covid, Amy decided to take yet another major step professionally, receiving her Masters in Nursing with honors, also becoming a certified Nurse Practitioner.
What is Amy’s professional philosophy and purpose? To provide compassionate and safe care to all of her patients, recognizing that both physical and mental health play important roles in overall well-being and quality of life.
Amy’s greatest inspiration? Her children! She says that looking at the world through the eyes of your child, you are able to see so many more opportunities for personal growth.
In her time away from work, Amy enjoys spending time outdoors, whether it be boating in the summer or snowboarding in the winter. She has completed many triathlons and road races. She loves boxing and seeks to push herself with each workout. Amy will be the first to say that her biggest competition is herself. One of the biggest items on her bucket list is learning to play the cello.
Amy’s favorite quote: “Never get too busy making a living, that you forget to make a life.”
